SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit Police Department will host a Community Day on Wednesday, July 14 (rain date June 15) from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Soldiers Memorial Field on 5 Myrtle Ave.
"The purpose of the event is to promote further understanding among young neighbors of the role of first responders in our community, county, and state," said a release. "Each participating agency will present for approximately 30 minutes on its area of expertise."
There is no cost to participate in Community Day. Complimentary hot dogs and refreshments will be provided by the Summit PAL. Presentation content will be suitable for children ages 6 and older.
The schedule is:
9:30 a.m. Union County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit 10:15 a.m. Union County Police Bomb Squad Unit 11 a.m. Union County SWAT Team 11:30 a.m. Summit Fire Department 12 p.m. Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad 12:30 p.m. Mountain Valley Communications 1 p.m. New Jersey State Police Aviation Bureau (Helicopter Landing) In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held on Thursday, July 15.
