Description
SECAUCUS, NJ — An Alabama man was found with a loaded gun on the morning of Sunday, July 4 in the parking lot of the Secaucus Red Roof Inn, said police.
Quinterious Jones, 23, of Alabama did not have a license to carry the gun in New Jersey, said police.
Additionally, the chief of the Secaucus Police Department called the Secaucus Red Roof Inn a "troublesome area."
At 11:16 a.m., Secaucus Police Officer David Delseni conducted a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn, 15 Meadowlands Parkway, of a guest of the hotel.
During the motor vehicle stop, the officer discovered the driver was in possession of a handgun, said police.
Jones was arrested after a search of his vehicle uncovered a loaded Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun. The handgun was loaded with a sixteen-round magazine and also had a round in the chamber. Additionally, some hollow point ammunition was also seized.
"This is another example how proactively policing troublesome areas will continue to suppress violators of the law," Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. "I applaud the police officer for his proactivity, which directly led to the seizure of another loaded handgun."
Jones was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of high-capacity magazine and other New Jersey weapons offenses. He was lodged in the Hudson County Jail.
