WAUKESHA, WI— A new system will replace a person manually taking fees at park entrances in Waukesha County, according to a news release. The system using artificial intelligence will capture car information to ensure people pay the online fee. The company that makes the recognition system, Rekor Systems, Inc., announced Monday that the county will use the technology at eight of its public park entrances. It wasn't clear what eight parks will have the new system. Rekor One will be installed in all of the Waukesha Parks locations in the near future. Waukesha County Parks uses a fee-based system to offset maintenance costs. According to a Waukesha Freeman report, the recognition system will be a single camera near the main entrance of each park. Daily entrance and annual sticker payments will be available for online payment and will require park visitors to provide a license plate number, the Freeman report said. "We're proud of our efforts to not only increase the safety and security of park facilities across the U.S. but also modernize parking compliance, saving municipalities - and their citizens - time and money," Robert A. Berman, CEO of Rekor Systems, said in a statement.
