ANDOVER, MA — New Superintendent Magda Parvey said she plans to hold office hours to get to know the community, in a letter introducing herself Tuesday. Parvey's three-year contract as the new Andover Public Schools superintendent officially began Thursday. The former Middletown, Connecticut schools official replaced Sheldon Berman as permanent superintendent after Berman resigned at the end of 2020. Claudia Bach served six months as the interim superintendent. In her letter introducing herself, Parvey said she will spend her first 100 days "familiarizing myself with all aspects of the Andover school community with a focus on achievement through a commitment to equity, engagement, and support as we address almost two years of interrupted learning for our students." That includes office hours she will schedule "very soon" to hear from the community about what makes Andover special to them. "I firmly believe in servant leadership and believe that my role is to provide support systems to promote higher learning for our students and staff," Parvey said. "Thank you for your leadership and commitment to Andover, together we will continue to develop the genius in every child and create life-long learners."
