SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA —Firefighters battled a small brush fire Tuesday near San Juan Capistrano that was held to four acres, officials say. Two people were injured, according to reports from the scene.
At 2 p.m. a call came in regarding a blaze in the foothills between Ortega Highway and Pico Boulevard, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Sean Doran said.
No structures were immediately threatened.
Roughly 100 firefighters halted forward progress on the blaze at four acres just over an hour later, at 3:15 p.m., Doran said.
Two people complained of smoke inhalation and were assessed by paramedics at the scene, but they declined being taken to a hospital against the advice of firefighters, Doran said.
It is not currently known what started the fire.
