Press release from the Village of Orland Park: 07/07/2021 Orland Park Mayor Encourages Continued Efforts to Solve Mail Issues Orland Park Mayor Encourages Continued Efforts to Solve Mail Issues The Chicagoland United States Postal Service (USPS) area has been beset by persistent mail issues including issues that have impacted a multitude of Orland Park residents. Mail is being reported late, missing and residents are concerned about the whereabouts of their expected mail. "We rely on the United States Postal Service for timely service and daily delivery of important communication," said Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau. "It is frustrating when that service becomes unreliable and inconsistent." With widespread delays in the region, the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced recently that Chicago Postmaster Wanda Prater has been excused from her duties and Eddie Morgan Jr. has been named in her place to alleviate ongoing service issues. "There have been a lot of calls for leadership changes; however, it is unlikely that a single person could have caused these widespread disruptions. There are undoubtedly other root causes for these mail delivery issues and I encourage our federal representatives to maintain diligence in this matter so that these issues are resolved once and for all," said Pekau. "While the Village of Orland Park has no recourse to assist in the service issues, oversight for USPS-related service issues should be addressed by Congress." Those experiencing issues with their mail service should contact the United States Postal Service and, if service does not improve, contact their elected member of Congress. Call 1-800-ASK-USPS (800-275-8777) to reach USPS or to reach your representatives. This press release was produced by the Village of Orland Park. The views expressed here are the author's own.
