LEVITTOWN, PA —Bristol Borough Police are still searching for a suspect they say fired several gunshots at another driver in a road rage incident Tuesday.
The incident began close to the Bristol Borough Post Office, where there was a verbal fight between two drivers, police said.
They said one driver attempted to leave the area but was pursued by the driver of a red SUV with New York license plates. Police say this driver is a Dominican man.
Once on Route 13, the driver of the red SUV reportedly fired several gun shots at the other car, while traveling northbound through Bristol Township. The red SUV then turned around at Green Lane and headed south on Route 13.
The suspect's car was located outside a home on Pine Street's 700 block, which police roped off and barricaded after neighbors advised that he was inside the residence.
Police called in the Bucks County South Special Emergency Response Team, who engaged in what they believed to be a standoff with the suspect between the hours of 9 p.m. Tuesday night and 3 a.m. Wednesday morning. After obtaining a search warrant to enter the home, officers found that no one was inside.
Officers from Bensalem, Tullytown Borough, and Falls Township assisted at the scene with Bucks County Detectives, Bristol Borough Fire Company and Fire Police, and Bristol Borough Emergency Management.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and the suspect is not in custody — but authorities are confident that he does not pose danger to the Pine Street neighborhood.
