July 2: Assault was reported at an unknown road in Smithtown from July 1 at 10:30 p.m. A 16-year-old boy was walking with his friends in Smithtown when a male struck him in the face with his hand, police said. The teen suffered minor injuries and was treated at Stony Brook Hospital, police said.June 28: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Tide Mill Road in Smithtown from June 3 at 8 a.m. A person's ID was stolen, money was withdrawn from their bank account multiple times, and fraudulent checks were written, police said.
