KENNESAW, GA — Police on Wednesday identified the previously unidentified man killed in a triple shooting ending Saturday at a Kennesaw golf course. Henry Valdez, 46, of California, was one of the two men found shot to death in the back of a pick-up truck on the greens of the Pinetree Country Club, next to 76-year-old Paul Pierson of Kansas, police said. Police say the deadly attacks did not, however, appear to initially target 46-year-old country club pro Eugene Siller. Siller was a witness who, unfortunately — and fatally — became collateral damage. "Detectives have learned that Mr. Siller happened upon a crime in progress involving the unknown suspect and the two deceased males who were found in the pick-up truck, " Cobb County Police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk said in a statement. Just before 2:30 p.m., on Saturday, police responded to reports of gunfire at the golf course at 3400 McCollum Parkway in Kennesaw and found Siller dead with a gunshot wound to the head on the green of the 10th hole. Nearby, officers located a white Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck with two more dead bodies in the bed. One of the dead men was identified as Paul Pierson. The identity of the other man remains unknown, police said. Both, Delk said, "appear to have no relation to the location at all." While the as-yet-unidentified shooter remains at large, Delk said investigators have determined that residents of the neighborhood near the golf course — including a nearby Kennesaw State University's campus — face no apparent direct threat. "We are aware that the public has many questions, the most pressing one being why this happened?" he said. "However, it is too early in the investigation to speculate as to motive." The investigation is ongoing.
