My situation is a little different. I have my own dueling piano show company that I also play drums for. I've been gigging 7-10 times a month for the past 6 months so I have no problem finding gigs but the problem I am having is the 5-6 piano players that I've been hiring are independent contractors so if they get offered a better paying gig for the same night they'll cancel on me, sometimes with just 1 week notice. I then have no choice but to cancel a gig because I can't find 2 piano players available to do the gig. Or I'll have one piano player available to do a gig but can't find another piano player to play certain dates. This situation happens more often. Regardless, I've had enough of this crap so I'm looking to get back into another cover band.
I would still like to play 2 piano show gigs a month at my best paying venues, so I'm looking for a band that plays 3-4 gigs a month and hopefully my piano show booked dates don't conflict with the band's, which could be an issue. Several of the venues I play are once a month gigs and set for a certain Friday or Saturday of each month.
I've played most of the venues in town, played drums in a few of the more popular local bands around town in the past 15 years, have plenty of experience, good drum equipment using hybrid acoustic/electronic drums and sampler, have reliable transportation, and I know or am familiar with hundreds, possibly thousands, of songs consisting of modern rock, classic rock, country, R&B, dance, hip-hop, and rap songs. I'm a musical whore, available to play gigs most every Friday and Saturday night and occasionally weeknight gigs and I'm not ugly! No substance abuse problems either. I also sing lead and can do harmonies. Harmonies is what I'm weakest at.
You can see some videos that I'm drumming to on my Fakebook piano page at https://www.facebook.com/BIGTIMEPIANOSHOW or type in Big Time Entertainment.
