Description
Dear Parents, My name is David Lee and I am a home private turor from Rosemead, CA. I am moving to Portland, OR in the upcoming months and I am hoping to bring my skill there to parents who’s interested. Specifically, I teach children (adults can learn, too) how to use a Chinese abacus. What’s Chinese abacus? In Chinese, it is 珠心算, and it’s been taught for centuries from generation to another. Abacus uses the mind to do arithmetical calculations. It helps the learner improve focus, concentration, memory, visualization, and cognitive functions. Who can learn? Abacus is a skill for all ages! There’s really no limit to age- as long as you know how to write 0-9, then you can learn it. It has been very popular within the Chinese culture, but, I am hoping to share this skill with everyone. How long do I have to learn for? There is no specific time frame for it. Just alike our education, we can choose to attend high school, college, university, and more; and it’s the same with abacus. You can learn just the basics or you can learn it for a lifetime- like me. Typically, it takes about 3 to 5 years to learn enough to never forget it in a lifetime, which is highly recommended. What’s the lesson plan and tuition? The classes are $300 per quarter and total 960 minutes. There are 12 classes per quarter, 80 minutes per class, and 1 class per week. The class is taught with no more than 7 students per class. And since I am beginning my journey there, I can start the lessons with a minimun of 2 students. Where is the lesson at? I am not sure because I don’t have a physical location there yet. We can start at park on Saturdays and slowly progress from there. Renting a classroom is unlikely for now and is unrealistic because I’m totally new there. If you can have 2 students for me, you can recommend me a park or library and we can start there. I hope to hear from you soon. Currently, I am open to discussion on the date of the first class. If you are interested in signing up, please dont hesitate to contact me for any questions at or email me at . Truly yours, David Lee
