We pride ourselves on providing excellent care for our doggie guests in a fun, safe and sanitary environment. We want our clients to know that we consider them and their pets family so they can feel happy, comfortable and confident about leaving their pups with us. We are seeking someone with management and dog experience to oversee 45-60 dogs per day as well as a staff of 8-12 people. We are open 365 days per year so you must be available to work evenings, weekends and major holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas are required days. The shifts may vary weekly so you will need to be flexible. It will be 40 hours per week. There is room for advancement and we are looking for someone willing to make a long term commitment. The job responsibilities include the following: Supervision and Development of Staff: hiring, firing, training and reviewing of staff. Hiring the right people and training them properly is the key to running our business. Once you have found these people it will be up to you to mentor and coach them. You will be responsible for creating an environment where the staff is motivated to work hard but still have fun, so the dogs and the customers have an excellent experience. At times you will be responsible for creating staff schedules and finding coverage if a staff member does not make it to work, all while staying within the payroll budget. Customer service: making clients feel happy to leave their “babies” in our care. You will be the face of our business and as such you will need to show our clients and potential clients how excited we are to be entrusted with the care of their pups and how confident they should feel about that. We want all interactions with clients to be seamless. You will introduce potential and new clients to our services and policies, verify their (and sometimes obtain) their vaccination records and make sure all the clients needs are met. You will be responsible for resolving difficult client situations with positive outcomes. We maintain extremely long term relationships with many of our clients. Some of our clients have been with us since we opened 20 years ago and we are on the second or third generation of their pups. You will be responsible for maintaining those long term relationships as well as developing new ones. You will be responsible for recording pertinent information such as behavior, eating habits, health, overall demeanor, etc. of the pups and relaying that info to the clients at pick up time. This will need to be done in a way the leaves the client feeling happy with us while still understanding what he/she needs to know about his/her dog. Operations: You will be responsible for all operations during your shift. You will be expected to follow established protocols and use common sense in response to emergency situations. It will be up to you to ensure safety and cleanliness at all times and that all procedures are followed. You will need to make sure that the staff follows completes all tasks and chores properly and in a timely fashion (i.e. baths, naps, walks, mopping, etc.) during their shift. If things are not going smoothly you will be expected to jump in and help the staff to keep everything running in a safe and sanitary fashion. You will keep the staff apprised of issues with the dogs which they need to be aware (special handling, the dog that doesn’t get along with others, dietary restrictions, medical conditions, etc.) and verify that the staff if keeping you apprised of situations with all the dogs (health, fights, moods, who does not get along with whom). Non-Administrative Responsibilities: This is not strictly a desk job. You will be expected to help in the kennel and interact directly with the animals, as necessary. You will get your hands dirty sometimes, both with the dogs and doing basic maintenance, cleaning and repair around the facility. Dogs are pre-screened here before they are allowed to become guests here. You will be doing the evaluation of applicant dogs, introducing them to an appropriate group of dogs and seeing how they interact, so an excellent knowledge of canine behavior is critical. Not only will you be assessing the dog’s behavior, you will need to manage the client’s expectations and reactions at the same time. Each day you will be supervising care, management and oversight of the dogs. You will be evaluating, making decisions about, and taking appropriate action regarding canine behavior and safety. You will be weighing dog interactions and making sure all dogs are safe and in appropriate playgroups. On the rare occasion that a dog becomes injured or ill you will be expected to assess the dog’s injuries or illness, make a plan of action and follow it. Retail and Merchandising: Due to Covid we are currently not selling merchandise, but when we resume doing that you will be responsible for selling as well as ordering, checking in, entering and displaying merchandise. Other Responsibilities: assorted administrative tasks, maintaining our social media presence, special projects as needed. About You: Love dogs Dynamic, friendly, high energy individual Team player with a positive attitude Excellent time management skills Able to multi-task, plan, coordinate and stay organized under stressful condition Have good communication skills Able to give and follow detailed instructions Completely reliable and always punctual Willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything is right Able to show proof you are legal to work in the United States Speak fluent English Vaccinated applicants will be given preference Requirements: Exceptional dog handling skills and knowledge of canine group behavior Comfortable around dogs of all sizes and temperaments Basic knowledge of Vetrinary care Must be comfortable on a computer and have basic skills with MS Office skills.
