The two-hour time slot will consist of a guided discussion of the book, and an opportunity to connect with others in the area who are committed to social justice, including members of the Wachusett Area Social Justice Alliance. Please come, having read the book, and with any A-HA moments ready to share. Class is listed as free, however please bring your own copy of the book, Waking Up White, Finding Myself in the Story of Race by Debby Irving. Purchase the book on Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Check your local library, too! *If you have difficulty accessing a copy, up to ten copies will be available free of charge. Pick up will be at BCAW. This is an outdoor event. Masks are optional when outdoors, and social distancing is recommended. Erin Stelmach is a co-chair of WASJA's education sub-committee and a local educator. The Burncoat Center for Arts and Wellness is an oasis for people of all ages who want to explore both their creative, and artistic potential and overall wellness of the body and mind. Burncoat Center for Arts and Wellness offers a collection of classes, programs, workshops, and once a month market days to draw the community together for arts, crafts, and mindfulness. The act of being creative can help decrease everyday stress and anxieties. Participating in the arts can also help with depression and increase positive emotions, and daily wellbeing. The added bonus? If you create, or participate in a group yoga or meditation class, you will form supportive relationships and friendships in your community.
