Please join friends, family and community for a Memorial and Celebration of the life of beloved teacher Terry Ogden on Sunday, August 8 If you plan to attend, RSVP to Kelley Ogden at [email protected]. Terry W. Ogden passed away on December 1, 2020 at the age of 66 in Beaumont, TX after a prolonged battle with early-onset Parkinson's Disease. While COVID restrictions prohibited many of us from attending his funeral, we hope you will join us on August 8 as we celebrate his life and accomplishments. Throughout his career, and in his personal life, Terry delighted his friends, family, colleagues, students and many others with his indefatigable spirit and his love of a good story. Terry had a brilliant mind and a joy for learning new things, and his greatest passion was teaching others. He taught speech and theater at West Orange High School and Kelly High School, and after moving to Houston in 1981, became chair of the theater department at his alma mater, San Jacinto Community College. As a professor, he received numerous accolades from the American College and Theatre Festival for his teaching work as well as for theatrical productions he produced and directed, many of which took place in the Powell Arena Theater, where the memorial will be held. In honor of Terry's wishes, we ask those attending to dress comfortably and in bright colors, as he wished his memorial to be a celebration.
