The wood to make these boxes was milled from a HUGE redwood tree in the Pocket neighborhood of Sacramento that had to be removed. These planters are perfect for growing herbs, flowers, and even vegetables. Gardeners, beginning woodworkers, and kids will love this hands-on workshop. All supplies providedTools and supplies will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. The event will take place outdoors, and kids are welcome! About Urban Wood RescueUrban Wood Rescue is a program of the Sacramento Tree Foundation on a mission to give our fallen trees a second life by keeping them out of the landfill. By milling and drying this lumber, we not only make use of a valuable resource but also ensure these trees continue to sequester the carbon they accumulated throughout their lives. This gorgeous, sustainable wood is a great way to bring our City of Trees heritage into your home. Each purchase supports the Sacramento Tree Foundation's stewardship and sustainability efforts. Funding for this program is provided through CAL FIRE. Urban Wood Rescue, a program of the Sacramento Tree Foundation, is on a mission to keep urban trees out of the landfill, support a sustainable, local, urban lumber industry, and provide both education and lumber to seasoned artisans and beginners alike.
