NORTHPORT, NY — Suffolk police are still searching for Christopher Calma, 50, who fell into the water of Northport Bay on Saturday morning, police said on Tuesday afternoon. Calma was fishing with his 14-year-old son when he fell overboard around 9:30 a.m., police said. Police said it would likely keep searching until Calma is found. The Coast Guard suspended its search over the weekend, News 12 reported. Suffolk police has its aviation and marine bureaus searching for Calma. Multiple fire departments and the Huntington Harbormaster are also involved in the search, according to police. Calma was wearing dark clothes and no life jacket, the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound wrote on Facebook. He could not swim, Harbor Master Fred Uvena told News 12. Calma's son, who was not injured, told his mother what happened before she called 911, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer John Hightower told Newsday.
