FRAMINGHAM, MA — The race for the District 5 Framingham City Council seat is looking a lot like 2019. In early June, District 5 City Councilor Robert Case announced he would not run for a second term in 2021. Just a few days prior to Case's announcement, former School Committee member Noval Alexander pulled papers to run for the seat — he lost to Case in the 2019 general election. On Friday, Cheryl Gordon, a local real estate agent and former town meeting member, pulled papers to run for the District 5 seat. Gordon ran in 2019 against Case and Alexander, but got knocked out in the September primary election. Although Gordon and Alexander have pulled papers to run, neither candidate had been certified to appear on the ballot as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the Framingham City Clerk.
