NEW HAVEN, CT —A two-alarm, 10th floor fire at McQueeney Towers Apartments on Orange Street Saturday around noon forced some evacuations, but there were no injuries reported, city officials said.
Home to senior citizens and persons with disabilities, the 83 unit site is operated by the New Haven Housing Authority.
The fire began in 10th floor office space and was contained to that area, officials said.

While no residents were displaced, according to New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, who reported he went to the scene, the building has a total of two elevators – one was out of service prior to the fire and the second is now out of service as a result of the fire. Efforts to repair the elevator(s) are underway, Elicker said late Saturday.
