POINT PLEASANT, NJ – Recently graduated Point Pleasant Borough senior Aislyn Lapp, who recently won the 27th Annual Louis Bay Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition, was honored by Point Pleasant mayor Robert Sabosik at the borough council meeting on June 28. Lapp received a $1,000 scholarship from the New Jersey League of Municipalities for winning the essay competition with an essay about how the town of Point Pleasant has handled the COVID-19 pandemic. In her essay, Ladd pointed out how the borough's government worked with other groups like the Chamber of Commerce to help keep borough businesses going as best as possible during the pandemic, along with keeping residents up-to-date with the latest information regarding programs to help get through the pandemic. "Aislyn is a shining example of the education system here in Point Pleasant Borough, to have such a young lady write such a phenomenal essay, I just want to say thank you. We look to you to be a future leader of our community," Mayor Sabosik said. "I am taken aback by all of the essays that were submitted, not just the winning one. To have young people take such an interest in their local government gives me great hope for the future. This shows that our younger generation do, in fact, pay attention to what is going on; these students certainly make their community proud."
