ELMHURST, IL — The developer of a proposed new housing complex in Elmhurst's downtown spoke of the need last week for urgency in the city's approval of the project. The city may be obliging. At Monday's City Council meeting, aldermen are set to consider a letter of intent to sell city land at 108 Haven Road, which is among the lots for the proposed 196-unit complex. The letter of intent does not include the price, which has yet to be determined. During a City Council committee meeting last week, members discussed the steps it would take to sell the land. In response, Mike Roth, an attorney representing Minneapolis-based Ryan Companies, said, "We're just asking to keep the process moving without a month or two delay." Under the developer's plan, the six-story complex would cover nearly 2 acres. The developer and aldermen discussed the project in detail at last week's meeting. The project is expected to go through the Zoning and Planning Commission before heading to the full council.
