ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a house burglary, off-hours swimmers, domestic disturbances, a bullet hole, fraud and fugitive drivers. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: House burglary A house in the 600 block of South Bryan Street was burglarized between 1 a.m. and midnight June 28. Various items were stolen. An investigation is pending. The report was made three days later. Off-hours swimmers Several people were swimming in the East End Pool, 463 E. Schiller St., about 10 p.m. Thursday. The people left before officers arrived. Domestics A domestic disturbance happened about 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Elm Creek Drive. The people were involved in an argument, which never turned physical. A domestic disturbance happened about 10 p.m. Saturday at Arby's, 340 N. York St. A woman called 911 and said a man became physical with her, kicking her out of his car and taking her phone. Because of conflicting accounts and no signs of injury, no arrests were made. Bullet hole found A resident in the 700 block of Howard Avenue told police Sunday that she found a bullet hole on her car. She was unsure when or where the damage occurred. An officer retrieved a bullet from the car and placed it into evidence. Fugitive drivers An officer tried to stop a car with tinted windows about 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake and Grand. The driver sped away, heading east on Interstate 290.An officer tried to stop a car that was driving without headlights about 2 a.m. Monday at St. Charles and Interstate 290. The driver sped away, heading east on I-290. The officers learned the car was at the suspect's residence and responded to interview the person. The suspect said he was not driving the car at the time of the incident. No arrests were made because there was no description of the driver and no admission of guilt. Shed damage Two plastic doors to a shed were broken on Friday or Saturday at a house in the 100 block of West Madison Street. Fraud A resident in the 100 block of Columbia Avenue told police that someone hacked her school email account and requested a ransom payment Sunday. The victim was advised to contact the school for more assistance regarding her email account. A resident in the 200 block of Monterrey Avenue said she received a call Sunday from a person posing as an employee from the Illinois Secretary of State's Office. The suspect requested she update her information. The victim accessed a fraudulent website and provided her personal information. An officer furnished the victim with information on how to protect herself against identity theft.
