TROY, MI — Additional information has been released regarding the victim of a deadly shooting at the Shell gas station at Rochester and Wattles roads in Troy Monday night. The man, identified by police as a 55-year-old Rochester Hills resident, was a lieutenant with the Detroit Fire Department, city fire officials said Tuesday. The man's name has not been released. One person is in custody in connection with the shooting, which was reported around 9:44 p.m. Monday. The victim was treated for injuries at the scene before being taken to a local hospital where he later died, police said. Authorities said in a news release that the incident may have been the result of a traffic altercation. Police said gas station video footage showed the victim and a suspect arguing before the shooting. The victim had left his Rochester Hills-area home and traveled south on Rochester Road in a black Ford Crown Victoria, police said. A white 2014-18 Jeep Cherokee followed the victim's vehicle into the gas station parking lot where the two drivers argued, police said. The argument escalated into a shooting, police said, with an occupant in the Jeep Cherokee firing "multiple rounds" before leaving the lot east on Wattles. The occupants of the Jeep Cherokee turned themselves into police Tuesday morning, police said, where a passenger was taken into custody. The case is being handed over to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for potential charges, police said. Troy police are asking anyone with information to call the department at (248) 524-3477.
