CHARLOTTE, NC — A homicide investigation is underway in South End after a 16-year-old boy died following a shooting Sunday afternoon along South Boulevard, according to police.
The incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on July 4, in the 2600 block of South Boulevard near the intersection of Remount Road.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers responded to the scene following an emergency call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon, and located a juvenile who had been shot.
The victim, who was later identified as 16-year-old Travell Moore, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Moore died from his injuries Monday, CMPD said.
Following the shooting, police said Moore was shot multiple times when someone began firing in the street, and the shooting was not random, WSOC reported.
CMPD said the investigation remains active, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
