Job Title: Picker/Packer Department: Operations - Reno Reports To: Production Supervisor SUMMARY Distributes material and products from racks to packaging area. Checks items listed on pick/pack slip against items picked for packaging to ensure accuracy. Packs orders according to specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Utilizes a pick list or RF scanner to pick ordered items and quantities from storage or flow rack. Places in either a bin or cart and delivers the order to the packing area. Bins may be placed on conveyors for travel to the packing location. Picks items from quick pick locations. May utilize a stair or stool to pull required items. Completes re-stocking form(s) as necessary for items needed in primary locations. Ensures an ID label is on product(s), if missing attach a label. Monitors the quality of the product to ensure that faulty items are not shipped to the customer. Responsible for meeting all established production rates, while maintaining quality of the task. Responsible for applying established, good inventory control skills, such as counts, neatness, etc. Maintains an understanding of new items in inventory to ensure able to identify products accurately, using bin location systems. Adds, inserts or dunnage and packing slip(s), tapes and affixes shipping label(s). Utilizes appropriately sized cartons/envelopes for packaging, according to specifications. Examines all orders packed and performs a quality check to ensure accuracy. Maintains appropriate supply of inserts, cartons or other packaging supplies. Notifies appropriate supervisor or team leader if new supplies are necessary. Completes inventory adjustment form(s) for all components utilized in packaging. Employees in this position may be required as part of this job to move to multiple locations within the Warehouse. This includes but is not limited to: Picking orders in the pick module, work order collations of product, collation of orders, packing items at pack stations and working with returns. Performs other duties as necessary and/or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to regularly lift and /or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand and regularly required to walk and to handle objects or tools. Employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch. Employee may be required to work around moving machinery such as gluing, shrink wrapping, and conveyor belts.
