Maintenance Worker III – Wastewater Collection Wastewater Division Public Works Department Application deadline: Monday, July 26, 2021 Visit www.icgov.org/jobs to apply online One permanent full time position available Full salary range: $55,328.00 – $70,824.00 Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm Includes on call every 6 weeks Job summary: Under general direction, operates heavy equipment and serves as a group leader in performing general construction, inspection, evaluation, maintenance, and repairs of sewer mains and related facilities. Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of experience in sewer construction and maintenance re¬quired. Iowa DNR Grade I Wastewater Operator certification required. Experience with permit required confined space entry and issuing of entry permits, site supervision and entry of said confined spaces required. Must live within 17 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position. Valid Iowa Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and tank endorsement with a satisfactory driving record required. Valid Iowa Class A commercial driver’s license required within 6 months of hire. This position is subject to federal drug testing requirements including screening through the FMCSA Clearinghouse. A pre-employment drug screen is required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminal background check. Preferred qualifications: One year college or technical school from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body preferred. Three years of experience preferred. Iowa DNR Grade II Wastewater Operator certificate preferred. Association of Boards of Certification Wastewater Collection certificate preferred. Competent person training in shoring and trenching preferred.
