Description
Hi, We're rehoming our 2.5 year old Alaskan Malamute named Delta. We've had her since she was ~8 months old. She has been an inside/outside dog the entire time - we have dog doors so she has 24/7 access to the outside - and depending on the season, she's either lounging inside or out in the shade/snow. She has always been allowed to sleep on couches and beds and likes to cuddle with people during Netflix binges. She is loving, loyal, and cuddly. Loves hikes, runs, walks, playing fetch, and playing in the rain and snow. She knows a few basic commands like sit, down, and wait. After she gets her initial rush of energy and excitement out on walks, she does well on leash. She's housebroken, but again, has had 24/7 access to the outside if needed. Always needs let outside immediately after eating or she's prone to accidents if left in a closed room. Will probably need time to adjust to a new potty schedule if you do not have a dog door. She's VERY food driven, though we have worked through her initial resource aggression (pretty sure the original owner had her caged the majority of the day without access to food or water). You must keep her on a regular feeding schedule (we do twice a day at 7a and 7p). She has A LOT of energy and needs things to do. She likes to chase squirrels and bunnies, chew on bones and kongs, play fetch, and chase/rough house with people. She must have a good amount of space inside and a fenced in outside, no apartments or this dog with go stir crazy. Her perfect family would be energetic and love staying active with her. SHE HAS TO BE THE ONLY PET IN THE FAMILY. She has a high prey drive and is aggressive towards other dogs in the house both large and small, male and female. We've hired trainers and attempted to work through this but have had no luck and since we have two older dogs, Delta unfortunately needs rehomed. However, she loves attention from all humans, including children. During family gatherings young kids regularly hang all over her and she doesn't care. We currently have a two month old baby and she does great with that, too. Rehoming fee required to ensure that she's going to a home serious about caring for her. We're in no rush to rehome. If interested in setting up a meeting w/ your family and the dog, please contact me at the number above. Thank you.
