Description
During this workshop we will work on creating the best portrait possible with a deep dive into this art form. " It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter." Alfred Stieglitz Portrait photography or portraiture is a photograph of a person or group of people that captures the personality of the subject by using lighting, backdrops, and poses. This definition discribes a broad range of possibilities for the photographer, so where do you begin? During this workshop we will work on creating the best portrait possible with a deep dive into this art form. From setting, styling, communication, light selections, exposure, posing and getting it right in camera. Sounds easy, done it a thousand times? Well, for the rest of us we will empty our mind and create based on the personality of the subject and what we have to work with to create a body of work that represents the persons character. Our goal in this workshop is to create 3+ images using some of these classic approaches keeping light falloff (Inverse square law) communicarion with the subject and posing to bring the impact in their portrait: Butterfly lightingRembrandt LightingBroad lightingShort lightingModel Subjects: PriscillaTBATBAWhat to bring (if you have them*): CameraYour camera's manual (if its a new camera.)Color target / grey card *Light meter*Portrait lens range between 50mm - 105mm*Agenda: Introduction / Inspiration / Planning Setup and lightingWorking with the subjects using proven techniquesThis workshop is for all levels of photographers, after this workshop you will be more comfortable capturing portraits and growing as a photographer. With our 1300 sq ft studio space located in Baltimore, MD we are able to bring you some of the most informative "hands on" workshops taught by working professional photographers in the area. We conduct our workshops in a very relaxing learning environment for all the participants and models to work in. Our group workshops are kept at 2:1 ratio, two photographers working with one model. We hire 2-3 models for each of our group workshops so each participant has the equal time working with multiple models for a complete creative workshop learning environment. The first hour is planning and setup as a creative team, then two hours of working with the talent. Select a workshop at least one week in advance to take advantage of the Early Bird price specials, plus the memberships option and join us to learn more about what you are passionate about. And do not forget to check out our new "Photo Tours" web page where we take trips with other Photo tour companies. Like the trip to Iceland that is coming up in spring 2020, or Kauai in fall 2020.
