DYING to Turn again? Of COURSE you are!This is an open lab where you get to practice the things you learned in class. No materials will be provided so bring your wood an/or hardware with you. If you are unsure it will work for anyreason, please contact Jolie at [email protected]. You can also bring a back up project.Note that all of it must go bac at the end as we do not have room to store projects. This is a good place and time to practice, there is no class so no instruction will be provided but there will be a teacher present to supervise in case you have questions related to safety. We are happy to help with a project when possible.
FAQsWhat is the location like?
The woodshop is in a larger maker space. It's an exciting place were people make all kinds of things from 3d printing to soysauce. Prepare to be covered in wood at some point.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Driving: There is free street parking on 19th Street. Please don't leave valuables visible and lock your vehicle.
Public Transportation: The nearest BART station is th West Oakland station. We can't offer a ride from BART, but you can grab a cab or rideshare service from the station.Easy Peasy.

The Lower 48 is a nonprofit woodshop in Oakland, CA.
The Lower 48 is the brainchild of Jolie Karno, a skilled woodturner and accomplished instructor at Techshop in San Francisco and The Crucible in Oakland. She loves teaching, and has introduced scores of people to fine woodworking.
