Featured Speaker: Leonard Lantz, MDDr. Len Lantz received his undergraduate degree in cell biology and genetics from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. After earning his medical doctorate from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, Dr. Lantz completed his psychiatry residency and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison. In 2005, Dr. Lantz moved to Montana to provide care to patients in southwestern parts of the state for AWARE, where he also served as medical director from 2008-2015. Since 2015, Dr. Lantz has helped patients in Helena through his private practice, Big Sky Psychiatry. Together with his wife, psychiatrist Dr. Krista David, he has brought transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to Helena, and since January 2018 this has transformed the lives of many people with severe, treatment-resistant depression. Dr. Lantz is a leader in psychiatry in Montana. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at the University of Washington School of Medicine and WWAMI program. He is a Distinguished Fellow both in the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and serves on the state councils of both organizations. Together with NAMI Montana, Dr. Lantz founded the annual Montana Conference on Suicide Prevention, which he hosted for its first seven years. For three years Dr. Lantz chaired the Montana Suicide Mortality Review Team, and he founded and hosts the annual Montana Psychiatry Conference. Dr. Lantz is a champion for evidence-based treatments and frequently discusses research and clinical applications through his blog, https://kungfupsychiatry.com/index. Organizer/Conference Presenter: Kyrie Russ, MS, LCPC Kyrie Russ is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Montana and the owner of Mount Helena Counseling, PLLC. Her practice focuses on providing evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure therapies, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Over the past two years, Kyrie has expanded her practice into training and consultation, as she has noticed gaps in educational opportunities for behavioral health providers in Montana. Prior to private practice, Kyrie was the Associate Director of Counseling Services in a college setting. Her educational and career background has led to a passion for teaching, both with clients and with other counselors. She strives to help clients understand why we do what we do, how the brain works, and practical strategies for change. Prior to becoming a therapist, Kyrie worked for Cornell University's extension service, disseminating research-based human development information to parents and families. Kyrie has an undergraduate degree in Human Development from Montana State, a Master's Degree in Adult Education from Buffalo State College, and a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Great Falls. She has received advanced CBT training through the International OCD Foundation and participates in ongoing consultation with experts in the field.
