EAST HAVEN, CT — Police announced an arrest in a Feb. 5 home invasion which they said left one person with serious injuries.
On Feb. 5, the East Haven Public Safety Dispatch Center received a 911 hang-up from a William Street address, police said. Upon officers arrival, they found a man suffering from serious facial lacerations, police said.
The victim told officers he was sleeping when a male intruder, later identified as Jener Silva, 27, entered his room and confronted him about money he was owed, police said. The victim stated he attempted to call police but was struck in the head causing him to lose consciousness, police said.
An arrest warrant affidavit was applied for charging Silva with home invasion, second-degree assault, and interfering with an emergency call, police said. Once the affidavit was signed, a manhunt ensued, police added. Police Det. John Fraenza teamed up with the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitives Task Force and located Silva in New Haven, police said.
On July 2, Fraenza, the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitives Task Force and the East Haven Police Detective Bureau took Silva into custody, police said. Silva is charged with home invasion, second-degree assault, and interfering with an emergency call.
