Socialism: (noun) a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, services, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. The fire department, police department, court system, public school system, roads, highways, military, Medicare, are just a few examples of our U.S. Socailism. The public owns, regulates, finances and operates these entities. This is by definition a socialism. So when people chirp about socialism in America, what exactly are you whining about? Would you like less police? Less fire departments? Smaller military? The United States is and always has been a democratic socialism. Nearly every modern nation in the world is a form of socialism. Pretty much the only service in America that is not socialized is our medical system. Although people who are on Medicare are in fact utilizing socialized medicine. If you love the securities and freedoms that come with living in America, you love a form of socialism. You, are a socialist.
