Description
Purpose of Classifications:
Applies chemicals to plants, trees, and grass to enhance plant growth and control weeds and pests. Maintain and monitors the pest control program.
Examples of Duties:
• Sets-up and operate hand and power spray equipment to spray, dust and/or spread various chemicals and other designated materials including pesticides, herbicides, soil sterilant, grass killer, fertilizers, seeds, and specified soil amendments.
• Installs, adjusts, and performs minor repairs on application equipment.
• Maintains records on chemical application activities in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
• Maintains work area, chemical storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices.
• Assists in training grounds staff in pest and weed control safety and in fertilizer use applications.
• Maintains equipment and tools used in chemical applications and sends out of service as required.
• Acquires and stores pesticide solutions; mixes or dilutes specified chemical or materials according to directions and applies them at the recommended rate.
• Instructs helpers, as required, in applying sprays, dusts, and other materials.
• Inspects outdoor areas and recommends extermination and pest control methods.
• Schedule’s pest and weed controls.
• May assist in the upkeep of the grounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of chemical application regulations and techniques.
• Skill in the application of chemicals.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Two (2) years of chemical applications experience.
• A possession of a current Pesticide Applicator License with the State of Texas Structural Pest Control Commission, not required but is a plus.
