ISO: Older dog who likes cats!

I lost my last dog to cancer in February and have been looking to love another. I know that puppies are a lot of work, and at this stage, I would prefer to give an older dog a home. Preferably one who doesn't have major health issues and is definitely housebroken. I do have cats but they were all ok with my last 2 dogs. I think because my house is small, a smaller dog would work better, but never say never! He/she would be inside a lot but get daily walks in my beautiful neighborhood. Many of my neighbors have dogs too. I have many years of experience with not only dogs but animals in general. I thought I would try this route because a lot of the shelters don't have what I am looking for, and some of the rescues want so much money for their dogs, or, I apply for them and they are adopted before I can get approved, leaving me heartbroken. Still, I would not mind paying a reasonable amount for the right companion. If you or someone you know has an older dog that needs a home, please email me. I have so much love and time to give a dog! I can give you references as well. Maybe a trial basis would be a good thing? Pre-adoption home visit allowed! Thank you!
