In this class you will be trained on the basic safety, operation, and techniques of MIG welding for hobby use The MIG welder is a common metalworking tool which can be used for many different applications, such as automotive repair and small to large scale construction projects. In this class you will be trained on the basic safety, operation, and techniques of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) or as it’s commonly referred Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding. In our 2.5 hour session we will cover setting up the machine, proper grounding, stock material preparations, personal protection equipment, and supervised hands on welding for each student. **Participants should wear long sleeves, jeans or heavy work pants, and close-toed shoes (boots preferred).** The metal shop and it's associated classes are for adults aged 18 or older only. Our 11,000 sq. ft. facility offers common work space, rental bays, and a variety of tools for artisans to create and work with. We also host training classes and workshops which make use of our shared work areas including: a complete wood shop, metal shop, 3d printer station, electronics bay, glass flameworking shop, classroom, design studio, and our CNC mill and laser cutter shop! Every Thursday night we are open to the public for our Open Hacks and Crafts event.
