Law student help needed fence issue

Neighbor replaced fence while l was at work to cover up damage caused by his tree uprooting and sued me for half under Good neighbor law. Informed him in writing that we will fix our portion prior. Does Good neighbor law apply? What other laws did he break? I have pics, letters, etc. I need help with laws broken penal codes. 1)Trespassing, 2)? 3)?... How do l show my cost (store price tag pics for each item will do??) Any advice will be appreciated. Surviving COvid financial issues also.
