Description

MOVIE AND PIZZA NIGHTS RETURN JULY 14 AND 21 On Wednesday nights, July 14 and 21, come to the Parish Hall for slices of pizza, salad, cold drinks and ice cream bars. The July movie is "THE APOSTLE" with Robert Duvall in an Academy Award-nominated role. Each night, half of the movie will be shown, followed by a discussion of the themes it explores. “THE APOSTLE” is a searing portrayal of a man of God battling his own demons. Robert Duvall is the charismatic but tortured Pentecostal preacher E.F. “Sonny” Dewey. His co-stars are an interesting lot, including Farrah Fawcett, Walton Goggins, June Carter Cash, and Miranda Richardson. The film won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Film for 1997. Roger Ebert gave it 4 stars out of 4, calling the film “a lesson in how movies can escape from convention and penetrate the hearts of rare characters.” Reservations are not required but will be helpful in assuring that we have enough food. There is no charge for dinner or the movie. St. Paul's has been serving our community through outreach, support and volunteer leadership since 1858.
