DEFINITION: Under general supervision, prepares Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Auditoriums area for use; works with the building users during events; cleans and may rearrange facilities following events; performs a variety of customer service-related functions; and performs related duties as required. This is a temporary, and hourly position. Applicants will need to submit a resume for consideration. Hiring Process takes about 2 weeks for all the steps to be completed. TYPICAL DUTIES: Provides orientation to building users and guests; informs building users of safety rules and procedures and regulations regarding use of public assembly facilities; enforces rules and regulations, and reports violations to superiors. Sets up and removes chairs, tables, public address and audiovisual materials, and other furniture and equipment. Sweeps and mops floors, empties trash containers and fills paper dispensers as needed, before, during and after events. Performs minor emergency maintenance and repairs during events, such as replacement of light bulbs, cleaning drains, boarding up broken windows, or removal of safety hazards. Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies. Erects, relocates and removes signs and barricades. Operates kitchen equipment, public address systems, stage and room light control panels, stage curtains and backstage facilities, and demonstrates their proper use to building users. Inspects building after use to make sure it has been satisfactorily cleaned up and that all furniture and equipment is in its proper place. Collects and removes trash, turns off lights and running water and makes sure that doors and windows are properly closed and locked when leaving building. Performs limited grounds work such as watering lawns and sweeping parking lots and sidewalks as needed. Enters and retrieves data from electronic data processing systems; establishes and updates information, generates documents and correspondence, communicates with others; updates computer system files; prepares, reviews, and maintains forms, files and other necessary records. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: basic customer service skills, basic janitorial methods and use of equipment; basic recordkeeping and reporting skills; use of simple public address and audiovisual equipment; the use of electronic information equipment and specific systems as used within the department. Ability to: understand and carry out oral and written directions; adjust to interruptions, sudden workload changes, difficult assignments and situations while remaining calm and productive; become familiar with and to enforce safety rules and procedures and regulations regarding use of public assembly facilities; read and understand labels and markings on supplies and equipment; learn and explain the operation of simple electrical and mechanical equipment; perform manual work requiring physical strength, agility and endurance; work harmoniously with other employees and deal courteously with the public under a wide variety of circumstances; prepare reports regarding work activities; work nights, weekends, and holidays; and utilize electronic computer systems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Customer service, physically capable of lifting at least 25 pounds at any given time, team player, safety minded, ability multi-task, and computer literate. Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would provide an opportunity to obtain the knowledge and abilities listed. Applicants must be able to speak, read and write English at a level for successful job performance. Some experience in customer service and custodial work dealing with group events is helpful. License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including necessary special endorsements, as required by the State of California to perform the essential job functions of the position.
