Description
This boy is approximately 3 years old. He is a little shy, but overall friendly. I am asking a rehoming fee of $250. If you have never had a chinchilla before, please understand the following:
* They are not the same as having a dog or a cat. While they can be very social creatures, they are not cuddly nor do they necessarily seek out affection. They are prey animals and react as such.
* The average life span of a healthy chinchilla is 15-20 years so it is quite the commitment.
* They require a specialized diet due to their sensitive digestive track. Pellets and hay are really the only way to go with these little critters.
*They are heat sensitive. The ideal temperature for a chinchilla is between 60-65 degrees. Technically, they should do fine up to 70 degrees, but this is something to be mindful of if you don't use your air conditioner in the summer.
*They are nocturnal. They tend to sleep during the day and play at night.
* They do like to jump and play so prepare to have a cage with some ledges. They chew plastic and it can be harmful for them so you want to avoid that when looking for a cage.
