UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Four people were injured Friday evening when a taxi leapt the sidewalk and crashed into a restaurant on the Upper East Side, authorities said. The crash happened around 4:44 p.m. Friday on Second Avenue near East 81st Street, when a taxi driver apparently drove over the curb and through a bus shelter, according to Scootercaster. A New York Post reporter shared a photo from the scene, showing the car partly inside the restaurant and its front windows seemingly damaged. Two of the victims declined medical attention at the scene, while another two were hospitalized, the FDNY said. Their conditions were not known, and authorities did not say how many were pedestrians.
