*Columbus, Ohio "Romeo" is a 5 year old Ruby macaw. A Ruby is a hybrid between a greenwing macaw and a scarlet macaw. Romeo was hand-fed and hand-raised by a friend of mine. He has been DNA sexed as MALE. And I have the DNA results for anyone interested. Romeo can be cage aggressive and will bite inside his cage. I would not recommend him for a first time bird owner. He will need time and patience to adjust to a new person. He started scratching the side of his face a few weeks ago. A visit to avian vet Dr Dahlhausen revealed he had a sinus infection. After a round of antibiotics he is already getting in those missing face feathers on his cheek. He will come with his large cage as well. YES, Romeo does talk some. NO, he would NOT make a good pet for your small children. NO, I would not recommend letting him around cats, dogs, or small birds to "freely interact" as he is a MACAW with a beak that can do serious damage if he wanted to. Romeo's wings are not clipped and he loves to fly. He will not go to someone who wants to take that freedom from him. He does rather well with flight training once he has adjusted to you and frequently flies from wherever he is perched to land on my arm. Romeo is a non-negotiable $2500.
