I realize this plan is extreme, but this nation is in an extreme situation. Extremes situations require extreme solutions. Legalize ALL drugs legal and illicit. Tax these drugs and use 100% of that tax money to fund drug rehabilitation for those who need it and to fund mental health services for homeless in America. It has been proven that legalizing drugs actually reduces addiction rates. Legalizing all drugs will take all of the power and profit away from drug cartels. Legalizing drugs would defund the cartels. With the TRILLIONS of dollars saved by police not dealing with petty drug crimes, no DEA, no more drug cases flooding our court systems and no more incarceration costs for imprisoning people for drug offenses, we could completely fund healthcare for all Americans. People who want private insurance could receive a check or tax credit for their share and then they could buy private insurance. People who prefer a medicare for all system would have free healthcare. Everyone’s wins. Every American would have healthcare at no cost. In order to solve some of the problems in America we will need to think outside the box. Legalizing drugs will reduce crime, reduce homelessness, reduce addiction, free up our courts, free up our police to fight real crimes like rape and murder, reduce the number of inmates in prison by 70% and fund healthcare for every American. The type of people who use drugs are going to do so regards of legality. So let’s decriminalize drugs at a federal level and use that funding to right the ship that we call USA. Every person wins.
