Raynor Hawaii Overhead Doors works primarily on Oahu, with occasional service and installation on the neighbor islands. We are starting our own four-year training program to develop the next generation of Carpenter’s Union Garage Door Specialists. High schools are not offering vocational programs for this skill, and this is an industry which will need many more skilled technicians in the next 10-30 years. This field should interest you if: You don’t like being stuck indoors or working at a monotonous job. You enjoy mechanical challenges and working with your hands. You want a career that provides outstanding pay with excellent benefits. You want to earn $50-75,000 per year, with minimal travel and most weekends off. You are interested in union benefits, including vacation and holiday pay, health insurance, retirement plans and overtime pay for more than 8 hours worked in one day. We will be hiring for these positions based more on your potential than your past. Family-based personal values, a strong work ethic, and positive interpersonal skills are required as well as an enjoyment of mechanical hands-on work. Successful applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen, have a clean driving record and pass a background check, as commercial work may involve working on government sites or other high security clearance sites. Our expectations are high because our compensation and benefits are high. The starting wage will be $17-18, at the helper unskilled level, with defined increases based on time worked and education and training completed. Details will be covered during the interview process, but our expectation is that hourly compensation will be in the $28-32 plus benefits for a total per hour range of 40.00 per hour or more by the end of the four-year Journeyman Program. If you have previous door experience, you may be able to join as an installer and have more rapid advancement. During the training program you will be primarily based out of one location, but you may travel to the other islands as part of the training program.
