Vendors, DJs, and local radical queers get together for drinks, dancing, and an art show by incarcerated queer and trans people! Every First Friday, A.B.O. Comix is throwing a big gay hang like only we can! Artwork from a selection of our 215 incarcerated contributors will be on view in the Classic Cars West Gallery. We'll also have a rotating cast of local vendors selling their creations and donating raffle prizes to raise funds for our incarcerated contributors. The drinks from CCW Bar & Restaurant will be flowing, and a DJ will be spinning tunes all night to get you and your friends out on the dance floor. Come by and make new real-life friends, support our queer and trans siblings on the inside, and come home with some lovely new art! Classic Cars West is a first floor entry, dog friendly space with gender-neutral, ADA accessible restrooms. No one turned away for lack of funds. A.B.O. Comix is a collective of creators and activists who work to amplify the voices of LGBTQ prisoners through art. By working closely with prison abolitionist and queer advocacy organizations, we aim to keep queer prisoners connected to outside community and help them in the fight toward liberation. The profits we generate go back to incarcerated artists, especially those with little to no resources. Using the DIY ideology of "punk-zine" culture, A.B.O. was formed with the philosophy of mutual support, community and friendship. ​Our collective is working towards compassionate accountability without relying on the state or its sycophants. A.B.O. believes our interpersonal and societal issues can be solved without locking people in cages. Our mission is to combat the culture that treats humans as disposable and disproportionately criminalizes the most marginalized amongst us. Through artistic activism, we hope to proliferate the idea that a better world means redefining our concepts of justice.
