Come out and hear from those in our community, about the beauty, history, and inspiration found within the Richmond Greenway. This series of short interviews, compiled into a film seek to highlight the social and cultural connections of the Richmond Greenway!
Outdoor event, masks encouraged. All ages welcomed. Seating is available within the shaded Gazebo, but we encourage you to bring your own chairs (if possible) and blanket/sweater to stay warm.
This project aimed to provide a sense of self-determination for both the interviewed participants and broader community, in how Black, Indigenous, and other folxs of Color in Richmond interface with the green spaces of our city – especially in these times of COVID19 impacting our physical and mental health. Specifically, the Richmond Greenway will be explored, as it spans through multiple neighborhood and serves as a host to multiple community art along its respective path. The Greenway holds untold stories that can be expressed through this powerful media arts project, #RichmondSpeaks: Social & Cultural Connections to the Richmond Greenway. Hear directly from community members about their perceptions of the Richmond Greenway Trail, and if there’s been heightened benefits of its existence because of the current pandemic.
All registered attendees who are present will be entered into a raffle, to win a free photo canvas print from the Shots From Richmond #RichmondSpeaks Collection.
This project was fully supported and funded by the Richmond Arts & Culture Commission s NPA Grant , and made possible due to countless community members, and fellow local creatives from Kennedy High School, De Anza High School, and Big Picture Anthems.
