STAMFORD, CT — The City of Stamford has announced polling locations for the special election that will be held on Aug. 17 fill the vacant 36th Senate District seat. Alex Kasser suddenly resigned last month.
According to the City of Stamford website, the polling locations will be as follows
Local District 8, Stillmeadow School, 800 Stillwater RdLocal District 11, Cloonan Middle School, 11 Powell Place EntranceLocal District 12, Stillmeadow School, 800 Stillwater Rd.Local District 17, 17 Roxbury School, 751 West Hill Rd. – Gym EntranceLocal district 19, Davenport Ridge School, 1300 Newfield Ave. – Side EntryLocal District 21, Scofield Middle School, 641 Scofieldtown Rd.Local District 22, Long Ridge Fire Company, 366 Old Long Ridge Rd.Absentee Ballots will be counted at 888 Washington Blvd. Voting machines will be used. The polls will be opened at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m.
Several candidates have stepped forward looking to run for the seat. On the GOP side, Leora Levy, State Rep. Harry Arora, and Ryan Fazio have thrown their hat into the ring. Fazio ran against Kasser in 2020 and lost a closely contested race.
On the Democratic side, Alexis Gevanter and John Blankley will run.
According to the Greenwich Time, Greenwich Democrats have tentatively scheduled a nominating convention for July 6. The Time also reported that Republicans have scheduled a convention for July 10. Both are expected to be held via Zoom.
