County: Duke Of Kent Drive In Crofton Selected For Resurfacing

CROFTON, MD —The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works announced Wednesday that Duke of Kent Drive, between Crofton Parkway and Davidsonville Road (MD 424), in Crofton has been selected for resurfacing. This work is scheduled to start within the next month. According to a release, the project will consist of roadway base patching, where needed, utility adjustments, roadway surface layer replacement, concrete ADA curb upgrades, where necessary, and spot concrete repair of the sidewalk. Those living on the street are asked to relocate any irrigation systems, like automatic sprinklers, before the construction. County officials said this is not a requirement, and the contractor working on the project will make every effort to avoid any private fixtures or systems within the public right-of-way. However, officials said the systems are installed at the homeowner's risk. Those who do relocate their sprinklers, should move them at least 3-feet from any existing sidewalk or curb line, county officials said. In Thursday's announcement, county officials said they would make a second announcement, and distribute a second flyer to residents, outlining the specific work that will be performed and the anticipated start date. The second announcement and flyer will be distributed at least seven days ahead of construction. The county said it has chosen Century Engineering to manage the construction aspects of the project.
