Description

TEMECULA, CA — A brush fire that erupted Friday just east of Temecula charred roughly four acres before crews got it under control with the help of Cal Fire aircraft. The non-injury blaze was reported at 12:25 p.m. near Denise Road and Calle El Nino, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. More than a dozen engine crews and several hand crews were sent to the area and encountered flames burning at a slow rate through medium vegetation across a ridge and into a drainage between hills. No homes or other structures were threatened. Two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter arrived immediately afterward and initiated a series of runs on the brusher, stopping the forward rate of spread, according to reports from the scene. Shortly after 1 p.m., the blaze was declared 100 percent contained. Crews were expected to finish mopping up by 5 p.m. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
