PHOENIXVILLE, PA — No one knew in the middle of last winter what the coronavirus and COVID-19 cases would look like by July 4, and Phoenixville's fireworks have fallen victim to supply chain lag. Katie Detwiler, Borough of Phoenixville Community Engagement Coordinator, told Patch, "The Borough is unfortunately not holding any fireworks this year. We had to make a decision for our supplier in February of this year when we were unsure about state restrictions." As COVID-19 cases continue to drop across the country — and in Chester County — and as the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, many Independence Day celebrations have once again been canceled, modified, or will be held virtually due to the pandemic. There are no Borough-sponsored events scheduled for the July 4th weekend, but the Open Air Business sector road will remain closed to accommodate outdoor dining through Monday, July 5. Bridge Stree will reopen on Tuesday morning, July 6, Detweiler said. Phoenixville Borough offices will be closed Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day and will reopen July 6.
