CORNELIUS, NC — A no swim advisory issued on a Lake Norman cove in Cornelius Wednesday has been lifted, Mecklenburg County officials said Friday. The advisory had been put in place after hundreds of gallons of untreated sewage was discharged into the lake. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services said at the time the advisory was issued that it would remain in place until water quality in the area is safe for human contact. "Water samples collected by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services' staff reveal that bacteria counts are within safe limits; therefore, the no swimming advisory has been lifted," the county said.
