SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A 34-year-old man is facing multiple charges after Scottsdale police say he hit a police motorcycle, another car and stole an ambulance. Police said Matthew Thomas Crook intentionally reversed his vehicle into a police motorcycle near Indian School and Scottsdale roads Thursday night, before striking another vehicle near 75th Street and Indian School Road and fleeing, according to police. Crook is charged with aggravated assault on an officer, theft of an emergency vehicle and other related charges. The officer that was struck suffered minor injuries while the victim in the hit-and-run crash was not injured, police said. Crook and 32-year-old female passenger, Brittany Cannon, stole an ambulance shortly after the crash, before abandoning it in the area of 79th Street and Heatherbrae Avenue, police said. Crook was charged with aggravated assault on an officer and theft of an emergency vehicle, with other charges pending the result of the current police investigation, according to police. Cannon was charged with theft of means of transportation, police said. If convicted of aggravated assault on an officer, Crook faces a maximum sentence of four years in prison. Additionally, if convicted of theft of an emergency vehicle, Crook faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. If convicted of theft of means of transportation, Cannon faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
